The National Research Facilities & Equipment Center (NFEC), together with the European Science Foundation (ESF), hosted a workshop on October 30 and 31. The two-day workshop was attended by the director general of NFEC, Euh Duck Jeong; the chief executive of ESF, Jean-Claude Worms; and other participants.

At the workshop, presentations were given on detailed tasks of the NFEC and the general overview of ESF tasks. Participants explored opportunities for future cooperation between the two organizations. The ESF delegation members deepened their understanding on Korea's research facility and equipment infrastructure through a visit to key research facilities, with highlights including the high-voltage electron microscope (HVEM), the National Fusion Research Institute (NFRI), and so on.

The two organizations initiated the data-field matching project for the soon-to-be-launched MERIL and ZEUS(WOLF) data connection. They agreed to organize a meeting to share sample data and address technical problems; to establish a work flow and timeline; and to discuss these matters in the upcoming meeting for a systematic implementation of future tasks.
