In the International Conference of Research Infrastructure 2018 held in Vienna, Austria on September 13, Dr. Chan-young Jun, team manager He-jin Kim, and researcher Bit-nam Hwang from the National Research Facilities & Equipment Center (NFEC) gave a on the research infrastructure management system in Korea. They introduced the role of the NFEC to enhance social value through performance evaluation and management of the research infrastructure. The presentation consisted of an overview of the researcher support program and Zone for Equipment Utilization Service (ZEUS). In addition to the presentation, the NFEC participants made efforts for networking by exchanging data and contact information with other participants of the conference involved in research infrastructures that have come from all over the world.


The International Conference for Research Infrastructures (ICRI) is an international conference in which many presenters and participants related to research infrastructures from over 50 different countries exchange all kinds of information and discuss relevant issues. It is organized by the European Commission (EC) and this year it was held in Austria, which holds presidency of the Council of the European Union. The presenters and participants consist of managers and researchers of world-renowned institutes holding large-scale research facilities, and policy makers of many different countries. The key agenda of the conference included sharing RI-related strategies and policies as well as establishment and management status to promote global sharing and cooperation of research infrastructures, and establishing roles of research infrastructures to develop science and technology.
